Allergy Free and Gluten Free Chocolate

At Taylor Made Chocolate, we understand the challenges of food allergies.  The process of introducing food to our children during their development years brought a new round of hives or eczema on at least a monthly basis.  We learned how to make crackers out of tapioca flour, millet flour and spelt flour.  We couldn't buy any of the baby snack or cereal items and over half the baby food on the store shelves had rice or wheat.  And, allergies change over time.  Some go away....some get worse.  While the intent of starting our business was to provide a way to support survivors of human trafficking and to reduce slavery in the cacao farming industry, we have the added benefit of an allergy free and gluten free manufacturing facility due to our family's history of raising kids with food allergies.  We have had so many customers so very excited to be able to eat our chocolate, that we wanted to provide more information on our allergy free production facilty.

Of the top 10 food allergens, the only allergen in our manufacturing facility is milk.





Our facility is divided into two locations physically divided by a wall and door.  We have the retail store that only sells fair trade chocolate.  In the retail store, we sell chocolate from other chocolate makers who include nuts in their processes and products.  These packages are sealed and are not introduced to our manufacturing facility.  Any gift baskets with allergy products are prepared off site, sealed in air tight packaging and we just add our chocolate bars as an additional product in the package.

Allergy Free Manufacturing Facility

We understand our facility design may not meet the needs of all allergy sensitive customers so we have provided a layout so you can make the best decision for your family.  

Due to our family's experiences with food allergies, we have been vigilent about only using ingredients in our facility that are allergen free, except for milk/dairy.  Our chocolate production equipment has only processed, organic cacao beans, organic cocoa butter, organic sugar and dried milk powder.  Our table tops utilized for bar wrapping have also been utilized for our truffle production and bark production.  Ingredients include seeds, berries, butter, olive oil, honey, jams, salt, and spices such as turmeric, cinnamon or nutmeg.
